Will Humble
Will Humble is a long-time public health enthusiast and is currently the Executive Director for the Arizona Public Health Association (AzPHA). His 40 years in public health include more than 2 decades at the Arizona Department of Health Services, where he served in various roles including as the Director from 2009 to 2015. He continues to be involved in health policy in his role as the Executive Director for the Arizona Public Health Association. He has a BS in Marketing from NAU, a BS in Microbiology from ASU, and an MPH from the University of California at Berkeley. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the U of A for engaging partnerships between academic and executive public health. Will is a believer in using evidence-based health policy to improve health outcomes and in leading and managing with emotional intelligence.

Terry Bracy
Terry Bracy whose unique role in representing Tucson’s interests

Udall. Terry was then appointed to the sub cabinet by President Carter and subsequently served under four Presidents of both parties. He is the Founding Partner of the respected public affairs firm Bracy Tucker Brown which has worked on many of Tucson’s successes in the Nation’s Capital.

Keith Rosenblum
Keith Rosenblum is former Senior Border Reporter for the Arizona Republic and former Sonora Correspondent for the Daily Star. Keith served as press secretary for more than two years for Rep. Jim Kolbe, R-AZ, retired. Keith is founder of the website MexLink, which connects Americans to industry, government and media in Mexico. He is author of a book analyzing the New York Times stories (1997) about a former governor, and now senator, of Sonora state, Manilo Fabio Beltones.

Dr. David Levy
Dr. David Levy is one of the most successful comet discoverers in history. He has discovered 23 comets, including his co-discovery of Shoemaker-Levy 9, the comet that collided with Jupiter in 1994 producing the most spectacular explosions ever witnessed in the solar system. An Emmy award winning writer, Dr. Levy is author or editor of 35 books and other products. The former Parade Magazine Science Editor, Dr. Levy, along with his wife Wendee, are founders of the National Sharing the Sky Foundation, an organization intended to inspire new generations to develop an inquiring interest in the sciences, or in other words, to reach the stars.
Space Exploration
Dr. Mark Sykes
Dr. Mark Sykes is CEO and Director of the Planetary Science Institute, a Tucson-based non-profit engaged in the exploration of the solar system. He is the founder and co-editor of the weekly Planetary Exploration Newsletter, the former chair of NASA’s Small Bodies Assessment Group, and serves on the Planetary Science Subcommittee of the NASA Advisory Council. He discovered cometary dust trails, identified bands of interplanetary dust arising from asteroid collisions, and determined the temperature of Pluto. He is involved in the development of uses for commercial human space flight. “Minor planet 4438 Sykes” is named in his honor and he is the recipient of the Masursky Award for meritorious service to planetary science.”

Jeff Latas
Captain Jeff Latas is one of the most adept professionals in the aviation industry. Jeff has acquired a vast experience in his professional career, military and civilian, that includes Chief of Flight Evaluation, Accident Investigation (USAF Board President), and Weapons Development and Requirements, USAF Headquarters, Pentagon. In 1996, he was selected to represent the USAF in the Quadrennial Defense Review, a Presidential review of the state of the US Military. A retired combat fighter pilot with experience in the F-15E, F-111 and T-38. In his USAF career Jeff was honored with the Distinguished Flying Cross for Bravery, four Air Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals, and nine Aerial Achievement Medals. Jeff retired after twenty years as a Captain at JetBlue Airways in the Airbus A320/321 with nearly 20,000 hours of accident-free flight experience. He is type rated in the A320/321, B-737 and is a consultant of Aero Consulting Experts.

Bill Doelle
Bill Doelle is the founder of two Tucson-based organizations dedicated to respectfully exploring the Southwest’s past and sharing that story with everyone. Doelle is the former President and CEO of Archaeology Southwest, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that practices Preservation Archaeology, a holistic approach to research, advocacy, site protection, and public outreach. He also serves as Vice President of Desert Archaeology, Inc., a woman-owned small business that offers cultural resources compliance, research, and consulting services. Bill brings meticulous care and scholarship to the study of the region’s deep heritage, and he advocates for preserving important places as a legacy for the nation’s future.

Jeffrey Silvertooth
Dr. Jeff Silvertooth is the Buckmaster contributor on agriculture. Dr. Silvertooth is a professor and extension specialist in agronomy and soil science at the University of Arizona department of environmental science. His responsibilities include leading a program directed towards the development of irrigated crop production management strategies that optimize the soil-plant system agronomically and economically with full consideration of the short and long term impact of inputs environmentally. Professor Silvertooth is a fellow for both the American Society of Agronomy and Soil Science Society of America .

Dan Shearer is editor of the Green Valley News and the Sahuarita Sun, two communities that have responded to a focus on local issues and where the audience continues to grow. He is also editorial director of Wick Communications which owns thirty newspapers in ten states. Dylan Smith is the editor and publisher of TucsonSentinel.com, a independent nonprofit local news organization founded when the presses stopped rolling at the Tucson Citizen (where he was the Online Editor). Beyond journalism, he is an experienced Internet designer and programmer, and serves on the World Wide Web Consortium’s HTML Working Group. He comes from a long line of journalists; his great-grandfather began work as a reporter fresh from high school in 1900. Despite his long heritage in print journalism, he’s a firm believer in the power of the Internet to inform and inspire like no other medium for reporting.

Jim Nintzel covers politics for the Tucson Sentinel, an online news agency based in Southern Arizona. Prior to joining the Sentinel, Nintzel spent more than three decades as a reporter and editor with Tucson Weekly, covering politics, science and rock ’n’ roll. He has been named a journalist of the year by the Arizona Press Club and the Arizona Newspaper Association and has won more than 50 state and national awards for his work. He has previously worked for the local PBS affiliate, hosting a weekly political roundtable, and has appeared on CBS, ABC, CNN and other national news networks as well as various NPR affiliates. He taught government reporting at the University of Arizona Journalism School for more than 15 years.

Robert Hendricks
Dr. J. Robert Hendricks is a lifelong educator. He served as Superintendent of the Flowing Wells School District and associate professor emeritus and Associate Dean of the University of Arizona College of Education. A former Arizona Superintendent of the Year, he remains active in the Tucson community.He is currently president of the Interfaith Community Services (ICS) Board of Directors. ICS partners with over 120 faith communities serving more than 52,000 individuals each year. The organization offers multiple programs that assist those facing food hardship, job loss, and financial crisis.

Ken Scoville
A native Arizonan, Ken Scoville has been a teacher in Tucson for many years and has written extensively and is active in public speaking about Tucson’s history. He is a recognized local historian and outspoken advocate for historic preservation issues and has served on many local boards and committees. Since 1984, he has been involved with the revitalization of downtown Tucson and historic preservation issues in the community. Since that time he has also conducted walking tours of historic areas in Tucson with an emphasis on understanding why Tucson is the city it is today.
